Biography: Robert Moggach

For more than 12 years Robert Moggach has worked internationally in London, Los Angeles, New York and Toronto as VFX Supervisor and Flame Artist for the world's top directing talents. He's worked at Asylum, Method, Digital Domain, The Mill and others along the way, always going after the most creative work. He's worked for a number of A-list directors that include: Tarsem, Rupert Sanders, Michael Mann, Dante Ariola, Gerard De Thame, Tom Kuntz, Tony Scott, Ridley Scott, Jake Scott, David Fincher, Andrew Douglas, Stuart Douglas and many more. This challenging and demanding pursuit of great work and great collaborations has exposed him to some of the most provocative commercial visuals seen and served as inspiration for him to make the transition himself.

“For me, Visual Effects is about developing real craftsmanship and fostering compelling collaborations with great creatives. Directing, although collaborative in it's own way, is a more solitary pursuit — a creative, mental exercise that makes you focus on your own unique, conceptual and intellectual vision. Both are inspiring and rewarding in such completely different ways.”

His directorial debut Levi's "Dancer" garnered him a much coveted cover on shots magazine's new director's issue. It clearly established his visualist style and also his unique ability to push the boundaries of visual effects, while retaining the subtle nuances and beauty of the film itself. Following up on this success he has produced and shot four more spec films that are drawing similar attention including a nomination for the Young Director Award at Cannes for DLP "Color Musings".

Based in Santa Monica, California, Robert is continuing to pursue the great VFX work he's built a career on, honing his skills as a craftsman for the world's top creative teams, and continuing to build his growing directing reel.
